RING WAX CARVING WORKSHOP

TIME 6:30 PM - 9:00PM
R400 pp

LEARN TO USE JEWELLER'S WAX TO CARVE A PIECE OF WEARABLE ART

Wax carving is the process of carving and removing wax to create a desired shape that is then cast in either Sterling silver or brass. Once you have decided on your ring design, you can use the tools provided to carve out your desired shape and size.

Various techniques and tools can be used to add texture and other fine details. Once your wax carving is completed, we will wrap it up and get it ready for the casting.

Given the nature of the casting process, this won't be done at the workshop. Your finished wax carvings will be sent off and cast in your choice of sterling silver or brass, cleaned, polished, packaged, and returned to you within 2-4 weeks.

This includes:

  • jeweller's wax (tube or sheet)
  • hand tools
  • demonstration and visual aids to help you through the process and to give you a better idea of how it works
  • delivery fee

Additional costs:
Casting fees at R100 / gram in silver
or R60/g in brass

We can give a pre-estimate with the wax piece. A ring usually ranges between 6 to 10 grams.

PENDANT STAMP WORKSHOP

Every hour from 6pm - 10pm and can take from 20 min to an hour

Starting from R450

Get a look at the process of stamp work, an ancient jewellery-making technique that is still widely used today. This technique makes use of chisels and pieces of metal that are cut and ground into various shapes and patterns.

These are then stamped into metal with a hammer, leaving behind an imprint. Various designs can then be imprinted into the metal, giving you your own handmade pendant.

Select one of the provided precut sterling silver or brass discs, and draw on your design.

Then by making use of the various stamps available, including letters, numbers, and shapes, you will start the stamping process.

Each hammer blow leaves behind the desired imprint. After you are done stamping out your design, you can browse some of the add-ons that we have on offer while we will polish, package and get your necklace ready for you within an hour.

This includes:

  • a sterling silver chain
  • silver or brass pendant
  • packaging
  • all the tools required to design and craft your own pendant

A selection of our other chain and pendant options will be available at an additional cost.
